The following is an update from Flagler County Emergency Services as of 8 a.m. today:

U.S. Highway 1 remains open in the area of Korona after it was closed yesterday because of a wildfire.

The fire burned about 20 acres and is 50% contained. Another larger wildfire was located about two miles west of Espanola. This fire is in a rural area and is not a threat to populated areas at this time.

No evacuations are needed anywhere in Flagler County, and all roadways remain open. However, motorists should use caution if traveling in the area of these fires because of a reduced visibility from smoke. Smoke may be noted around the county today and may be rather strong at times.

You can also sign up for Flagler Alert powered by Code Red at www.FlaglerEmergency.com. This is a telephone notification system that will call you if emergency evacuation orders are issued for your neighborhood.
