The following is adapted from a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office release:

A 27-year-old Palm Coast man told deputies he fired his gun at two men that he suspected were trying to burglarize his home on Pine Crest Lane early Tuesday morning.

Jarrod Maxwell called the Sheriff’s Office just after 2:30 a.m. to report he had fired one shot at the men who were standing next to a vehicle parked in front of his home.

The Palm Coast man said two men had attempted to break into his vehicle while a third man attempted to enter the home through the back door.

Maxwell said he walked out of his home and confronted the two men at the vehicle. One of the men put his hand in his pocket and began to walk toward him, Maxwell said. He told deputies he ordered the man to stop and when he took two more steps toward him, Maxwell fired his gun.

Two of the males fled the scene in a vehicle and the third fled on foot, according to the Palm Coast resident.

K-9 units were called in to canvass the area, but no suspects were located.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office at 313-4911.
