Florida Hospital Flagler has donated $500 to the Flagler Beach Junior Lifeguard Camp.

“We try to make Junior Lifeguard Camp available to everyone,” said Tom Gillin, recreational director for the city of Flagler Beach. “This scholarship fund is what makes a goal like that possible.”

The Flagler Beach Junior Lifeguard Camp introduces young people, ages 5 to 15, to safe marine and aquatic recreation. The program is designed to improve young people’s physical conditioning, their understanding and respect for the environment, and their respect for themselves, their parents and their peers. At the camp, participants receive instruction and practice in open-water swimming, paddle boarding, body surfing, surfboard riding, kayaking, snorkeling and self-rescue.
