When Fran Ortiz hadn’t heard from her friend for a couple days, she became worried. Both women were students in Petra Wagner’s Silver Sneakers Adult Education exercise class, at Belle Terre Swim and Racquet Club.
Wagner called the student’s emergency contact, who had the Sheriff’s Office visit the woman’s house. The deputy found the woman had fallen and broken her hip and was stranded in her home.
“You could make a valid argument that these two saved this woman’s life,” Deen Wall said at the Feb. 2 School Board meeting.
