The city of Palm Coast was awarded the Florida Urban Forestry Council’s 2010 Outstanding Public Educational Program Award for its tree nursery.

The nursery, located on the east side of the football stadium at Flagler Palm Coast High School, can be seen from Bulldog Drive.

It is home to 11 varieties of trees and is maintained by students from Steve Poppe’s class and overseen by Assistant Principal Kevin McCarthy.

FPC students have planted six trees and fourth-grade students at Pheonix Academy planted two. City public works crews have planted seven more trees, with the hopes that total tree count will eventually be 200.
