Two Flagler County men were arrested after they fled the scene of a reported purse-snatching in Palm Coast.
Deputies said Kenneth Kirsch, 18, of 24 Ryker Lane, Palm Coast, was driving a van stolen out of Volusia County when his 20-year-old passenger snatched a purse from a woman at Rymfire Park around 2:18 p.m. The female told deputies that Twain Slater, of 207 Deen Road, reached into her vehicle and took a purse contained $82 while she was standing outside of the car.
Kirsch and Slater then fled the scene, but deputies located the van a short time later traveling south on Belle Terre Parkway. Kirsch refused to stop for deputies and turned the van eastbound on State Road 100 heading toward I-95. The pair then drove south on I-95 with deputies following until they reached the U.S. 1 exit in Volusia County. Once they exited the interstate, Kirsch then drove north on U.S. 1 toward Flagler County.
Deputies, assisted by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, were able to stop the vehicle about a mile north of the exit. Two Flagler County Sheriff’s patrol cars received extensive damage as a result of blocking the fleeing vehicle. There were no injuries reported in the incident.
Kirsch and Slater were taken into custody by Flagler and Voluisa County Sheriff’s deputies and were transported to the Volusia County jail.
Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies are charging Kirsch with burglary, theft and fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer.
