Flagler County firefighters recently received a few Christmas presents from Lowe’s in Palm Coast. Although the “presents” wouldn’t make good stocking stuffers, they will come in handy this spring during the fire season. Ann Marie Keogh, human resource manager with Lowe’s, said the company donated about $2,000 worth of chainsaws, axes, shovels, gloves and other equipment.

“We just want to thank you for keeping us safe,” Keogh told the firefighters.

All 1,700 Lowe’s stores throughout the nation support a local cause each year. Flagler County Habitat for Humanity, Future Farmers of America and the Education Foundation’s S.T.U.F.F. BUS have been past recipients.

“We have a good working relationship with Lowe’s,” Fire Rescue Chief Don Petito said. “They are right there when we need something. ... These tools will help us out during the fire season.”
