A Palm Coast man who was working on a car in his garage Friday morning became pinned beneath the vehicle when a supporting jack failed. He was transported to Halifax Medical Center for treatment of the injuries sustained in the accident.

Ricardo Colon, 50, of Upshire Path, was transported to Florida Hospital Flagler where he was stablized before being transported by Flagler County Fireflight to Halifax Medical Center.

Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies reported that Colon had been working on the vehicle sometime between Thursday evening and Friday morning. He later talked with his sister around 10 p.m. and no further contact had been made until 11 a.m. today when Colon’s son discovered him pinned under the vehicle, which was an MG.

Colon’s son and girlfriend were able to remove the man from under the vehicle while emergency units were enroute to the scene. Deputies said the man was breathing, but was unresponsive when he was transported.

Deputies reported that it appeared that the hydraulic jack failed when Colon was working on the car, causing the car to crush his upper body and pin him underneath all night until he was discovered by his son.
