The following is adapted from a Flagler County Sheriff's Office press release:
A Palatka man is facing multiple charges after a Saturday morning crash in Bunnell on West State Road 100.
Deputies reported that about 9:47 a.m., a vehicle was observed traveling eastbound on West State Road 100 at speeds between 68 and 95 mph. Posted speed in that area is 60 mph. The deputy was going to attempt to stop the vehicle. Before he could catch up to the speeding driver, the vehicle rear ended another eastbound vehicle as both vehicles were entering the curve on the S.R. 100 overpass in Bunnell. The accident occurred at 9:49 a.m.
Two men in the speeding car fled the scene. One, the passenger, was apprehended about 20 minutes later on Deen Road in Bunnell, near where it intersects with West State Road 100. He is not facing charges.
Fireflight and K-9 were called in to track the driver. The driver was located on North Anderson and East Woodlawn Drive as he walked out of the woods at 12:18 p.m.
The driver was identified as Darryl Duffy, 21, 308 N. Ninth St., Palatka. He is charged with willful and wanton reckless driving, fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest without violence, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and no Florida driver’s license. He was released from the Flagler County Inmate Facility after posting $2,500 bond Saturday evening.
There were no injuries reported in connection with the accident. The Bunnell Police Department was in charge of the traffic crash investigation.
