Can you guess the percentage of government employees who live in Flagler County?
According to the officials, the city of Palm Coast has 337 full-time active employees, with 265 live in Flagler County, which is 79%. The city also has 15 part-time and seasonal employees, 13 of which live in Flagler County.
Of the 307 employees of Flagler County government, 83% are local residents. According to County Administrator Craig Coffey, of those who live outside of Flagler, some grew up in the area, "but maybe bought a home just across the county line in Ormond or Plantation Bay, where the county lines weave in and out."
Coffey added, via email: "As always, we consider local residence when hire, but our primary focus is on hiring the best qualified individual for the position. Typically, you cannot fill all your skilled positions with only county residents."
