Two hometown heroes will be riding at the front of the Holiday Starlight Parade Dec. 10. Palm Coast residents James Sharpe and Earsel Wallace, representing her deceased husband, Charles, were recently honored with U.S. Congressional Gold Medals, the nation’s highest civilian honor.
Sharpe and Wallace were members of the Montford Point Marines, the first black Marine unit that served in the Pacific in World War II.
The parade begins at dusk in Central Park in Town Center, where the grand marshals, the mayor and City Council will lead more than 85 community floats and marching bands around the park’s perimeter.
