Keuka Wind, a Palatka/Interlachen-based research-and-development company, will continue to use Palatka as its testing location, and not locate to Palm Coast, according to the company’s director of operations, Brad Dailey.
“The talks with Palm Coast have ceased,” Dailey said Wednesday. “There may be future talks if we look at manufacturing here.”
Dailey said testing will continue in the St. Johns River. The company will be looking for a home for a vessel in the Caribbean.
Keuka Wind specializes in hydroelectric and turbine systems.
Dailey said the property in Palatka sits on the river, “so it makes it easier to put the machine through all the tests for wind turbines. It was more of a convenience than anything.”
Earlier this year, Keuka Wind considered testing in Palm Coast ponds.
Keuka Wind will be launching its test vessel 1 p.m. tomorrow, in the St. Johns River, Palatka.
Dailey said construction of the world’s largest floating offshore wind turbine as begun, in Palatka. The company has been building the base for the past two months.
