59-year-old Bunnell driver crashes, dies in ditch

Archie C. Edwards, 59, died in a single-car wreck Aug. 18, one mile south of Bunnell on State Road 100, according to a release from the Florida Highway Patrol. Alcohol was related in the crash, and he was wearing a seatbelt.

Edwards, whose home address was listed at 1698 Sugarbush St., Bunnell, was driving a 2001 GMC pickup at 11:20 p.m., Aug. 18, west on State Road 100 with no lights on. According to the report, he was traveling 80 mph in a 60 mph zone.

Edwards crossed the centerline, overcorrected and struck a ditch embankment, which caused him to overturn, end over end. The vehicle struck two trees and came to a rest in the ditch.

Relatives were notified.
