+ Selis made chairman of Florida Bar committee
Attorney Scott A. Selis, a partner of the Chiumento Law Group, was appointed chairman of the Florida Bar Elder Law Section’s Legislative Committee and will serve on the Elder Law Section’s Executive Council.

The Elder Law Section’s Legislative Committee reviews proposed legislation and makes recommendations to the Elder Law Section about whether to support or oppose each bill.

+ DeAlmeida named Exit Realty’s agent of the month
Ana Paula DeAlmeida was named Exit Realty First Choice of Palm Coast’s June agent of the month. She was also recognized by Exit Realty Florida as a top producing agent throughout Florida.

+ Intracoastal Bank names new management team
Bruce Page, president and CEO of Intracoastal Bank, announced July 21 a new management team at Intracoastal’s Palm Coast office.

Tom Hury was named new Chief Risk Officer.

Cheryl Tanenbaum, one of the branch’s founding employees, was promoted to senior vice president, and will take over for Hury as CFO.

Laurie Alves was promoted to vice president and will be responsible for leading all aspects of treasury management, as well as continuing to manage the front office. 

Bernie Costa was promoted to assistant vice president and operations manager.

+ Smithson joins Realty Atlantic commercial division
Peter Smithson has joined the commercial real estate division of Realty Atlantic LLC in Palm Coast’s West Pointe Plaza. Smithson, with 40 years of sales experience, is a certified commercial investment member and certified environment inspector.
 
+ Florida, Flagler County Realtors go for Guinness
In honor of Realtor Safety Month, real estate agents throughout Florida will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest business lesson held in multiple venues.

Andrew Wooten, Florida Realtors safety expert, will present “Florida’s Safety and Security,” a free three-hour program promoting safety in the workplace, Sept. 9, 4101 E. Moody Blvd. This attempt will connect more than 30 associations through satellite venues. Realtor students are welcome. To register, visit www.floridarealtors.org/education.

+ Florida Hospital Flagler earns Stage 6 recognition
The first hospital in the Adventist Health System to implement a barcoded patient/medication-identification program, Florida Hospital Flagler achieved Stage 6 classification from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.

The barcodes work to double-check each patient with his or her pharmacy profiles to ensure correct dosages and amounts.

Stage 6 hospitals focus on strategic alignments to effectively utilize information technology, keep almost fully paperless medical records and have an advantage in clinical support, recruitment and patient safety.

As of July, only 4% of the more than 5,000 hospitals nationwide have reached Stage 6 in the Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model.
