Women and children visit the Family Life Center daily seeking help from abused situations.
During the last calendar year, the Family Life Center provided emergency shelter to 119 women and 113 children. The outreach program served 223 individuals and 68 children. The community education programs on the Cycle of Violence and Healthy Relationships reach hundreds more.
Funding for these free services have dwindled with the economy, though, according to officials at the center. As a result, the Family Life Center is seeking donations.
“The organizations and people of Flagler County have been so supportive and generous to the Family Life Center over the years,” said Carol Corson, Family Life Center Board president. “This past Christmas was amazing ... Cash donations as small as $10 will be a great help to us at this time.”
They shelter is also in need of nonperishable items, such as Clorox wipes, toilet paper, paper towels, dispenser hand towels, garbage bags kitchen, Ziploc bags, dish soap, anti-bacterial soap, bleach, hand sanitizer, latex free gloves, sponges, deodorant and boys and girls clothing.
“This is a very caring community,” said Trish Giaccone, interim executive director.
Items may be dropped off at Realty Exchange, 210 N.E. Palm Coast Parkway, Suite B.
