St. Thomas Episcopal Church has formally established the Endowment Fund of St. Thomas Episcopal Church to provide a stable and secure financial support for the church community.
This fund will strive to minister to the social and educational needs of the community through investment and marketing.
“The endowment fund is a security for the mission of the church,” said Judith Gilruth, fund secretary.
There are several ways to give to the endowment, but the most common way, Gilruth said, is through a will.
“People who have no family to leave it to can leave it to the church, which is a charitable institution,” Gilruth said.
Gifts can range from cash, stocks, bonds, property, securities or life insurance policies and annuities.
The endowment fund is administered by a seven-member committee: Gilruth; William A. Lewis, chairman; Jack Murray, director of finance; Michael Nishti Jr., church treasurer; Robert G. Cuff, attorney; Raymond Thompson; Ralph Yearwood; and the Rev. Dr. Bradley Hauff, ex officio.
+ St. Mark Lutheran establishes adult study group
The Rev. Pam Northrup, pastor at St. Mark by the Sea Lutheran Church, will facilitate a nine-session study group, “Making Sense of the Christian Faith,” based on a book of the same name.
The study is an exploration of the major theological doctrines of the Christian faith in the order of the biblical stories. Topics include theology, creation, sin, covenant, law, community, incarnation, atonement, church, Holy Spirit and eschatology. There is no expectation that attendees have prior knowledge of the Bible or theology.
Northrup describes herself as one who is full of questions and always eager for conversation with other questioners.
She said a study group comprising people from different faith traditions, and even no faith tradition at all, will be engaging and insightful.
The study group will gather 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, beginning on Sept. 14, at St. Mark by the Sea Lutheran Church, 303 Palm Coast Parkway N.E.
The registration deadline is Sept. 5. Call 445-3420 or email [email protected].
