Morelewicz named Outstanding Volunteer of the Year

Jim Morelewicz, of Palm Coast, has been named Outstanding Volunteer of the Year by the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties.

Morelewicz is co-founder of Family Promise of Flagler County and serves as president of the board. The organization helps homeless children and their families achieve sustainable independence. Family Promise is made up of 16 member churches and has more than 250 volunteers.

Morelewicz is also a director on the Board of the Volusia-Flagler County Coalition for the Homeless, serving on the finance committee. He has a long history of volunteerism, both in the civic and church communities.

He was also awarded the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award. This award recognizes individuals, groups and families who have achieved a certain standard, recognized by the number of hours of service over a 12-month period or cumulative hours earned over the course of a lifetime.

Family Promise of Flagler County was the runner-up for Outstanding Faith Based Volunteers of the Year, and the Old Kings Elementary School K-Kids was the runner-up for Outstanding Youth Group of the Year. 

Florida Hospital Flagler gives 400 free sport physicals
Florida Hospital Flagler pulled together a team of 12 local physicians, 40 employees and 12 Daytona State College nursing students to volunteer their time and talents to provide about 400 free sports physicals for local student-athletes last week. This undertaking by the hospital enables the students to participate in sporting events for the upcoming school year.
