There was no hesitation. When Free For All Friday host David Ayres asked Golf Group Owner Henry Angle what was his favorite course in Palm Coast, Angle immediately said, "Matanzas." But the Golf Group is going to take it slowly.
After recently closing its $2 million purchase of the Pine, Cypress and Matanzas golf courses, bringing the courses under local ownership, Angle said the Matanzas course will see improvementings within one year, but that doesn't mean it will be some time before it's open for golfing.
In the meantime, Angle said, the focus will be on improving Pine and Cypress, as well as promoting the Grand Club, which many people don't realize is a fully functioning restaurant open to anyone — not just to golfers.
"We need to make better use of that building," Angle said Dec. 2 on the WNZF radio show. With the opportunity to eat dinner while watching the sun set over a golf course, the Grand Club is "an exotic location," he said.
He added: "We are very happy most of the staff has decided to stay with us."
