The Hammock Beach Golf Resort and Spa held the fourth annual Food and Wine Classic on Saturday, Sept. 19.
The event featured unlimited tasting of over 90 wines from all over the world, gourmet culinary offerings from the resort’s own executive culinary team, a craft beer garden unique Florida selections, live and interactive performances by the band Last2Leave, and a VIP wine tasting experience inside of a climate controlled tent all on the Champions Event Lawn overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
“The whole idea is to continue to showcase our beautiful resorts to people who have never been here before,” said Woody Mitchell, Hammock Beach Resort’s director of food and beverage.
The reputation of the unique event has spread from Florida to reach people around the United States and beyond.
“This year was incredible,” Mitchell said. “We’ve had people from Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Alabama, Georgia, New York, Chicago, Illinois, Kansas City, Missouri. We even had somebody this year buy a ticket from the Yukon Territory of Canada.”
Matanzas High School football coach Matt Forrest was at the event enjoying the cuisine.
“The sushi over there was phenomenal,” Forrest said. “Roast beef sliders are phenomenal as well. The brisket right here, great! The fungi pizza was phenomenal. I have probably eaten two plates of everything here.”
