Ormond Memorial Art Museum and Gardens Executive Director and author Stephanie Mason-Teague is hosting three upcoming local book signing events this fall.
Featuring her bestselling debut, "Empty Mess: Rediscovering Life After Kids," and her newly released sequel, "Empty Mess: Beyond Supermom," the tour offers local readers and supporters an opportunity to connect with Mason-Teague, a former PBS host and founder of the EmptyMess community.
"Known for her humorous, deeply relatable weekly essays on Substack, Mason-Teague captures the transformation from the initial 'Crazy Town' shock of an empty nest to what she calls 'Expeditionvision' — a purposeful journey of reclaiming identity, closing the 'knowing and doing gap,' and embracing new adventures beyond motherhood," a press release states. "Whether reflecting on a 16-day mission trip to Namibia, Africa, or navigating the comedic realities of 'Hot Flashes and Cold Iron,' her books offer an empowering reminder that life beyond Supermom is filled with joy, possibility, and purpose."
The first event will be held from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Novel Tea Book Shop, 150 Tomoka Ave. in Ormond Beach. In addition to a book signing session, there will be a meet-and-greet and a community Q&A.
The second event will be held from 5-9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, at Flipping Pages Bookshop, 136 S. Beach St. in Daytona Beach. The third and final stop of her tour will be from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, at Fern & Fable Books and Collective, 58 W. Granada Blvd.
"When my kids left the nest, I felt a paralyzing mix of loneliness and fear," Mason-Teague said in the press release. "I've realized that happiness is a choice and vision without action is just a pipe dream. I am thrilled to gather with our local community, share laughs, and celebrate the message that it is, more than ever, It’s our time to shine!”
All book signing events are free and open to the public.
