Ormond Beach's Kistemaker Business Law Group has added a new legal assistant.
Jillian Norko, a participant in Kistemaker Business Law Group’s Summer Internship program this year, is starting as the firm’s new legal assistant this fall, according to a news release. Norko is a student at the University of Miami and is majoring in political science and communications, with a minor in sports administration on the pre-law track.
"We are thrilled to welcome another of our Summer Interns back to the firm," said Erum Kistemaker, the firm's managing attorney and shareholder. "The program, which is now in its 14th year, has been quite productive for us — and we are looking forward to next year’s students!”
Norko has known she wanted to be a lawyer since her freshman year of high school and she hopes to pursue a career in sports and entertainment law. At UM, she is a member of the Phi-Alpha Delta Pre-Law fraternity, with involvement in Zeta Tau Alpha as well. These past two semesters, she’s earned President’s Honor Roll of 4.0 and continues to strive for that throughout her academic career. She will be graduating a year early.
"I am very grateful for this opportunity to get hands-on experience interning with Kistemaker Business Law Group and so excited to start as the firm’s new legal assistant," she said.

Rue & Ziffra has partnered with Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram to present a free Teen Safety Driving School on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The event will be held on the Truck Pad at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach.
Students will be instructed in the fundamentals as well as the dangers of driving and all cars will have a drift machine attached to them for control. The class will provide a hands-on experience for student drivers.
The driving school, taught by professional instructors, is open to Volusia and Flagler County drivers ages 15-19 who have a valid Florida driver’s license or permit. It will be taught in three separate 2.5-hour classes of 25 students each starting at 9 a.m.
“We wanted to offer this course because there are so many accidents involving students who don’t have the experience to regain control of a car that begins to lose control,” said Allan Ziffra, managing partner of the longtime Port Orange-based law firm, celebrating its 50th year.
