Emmett Rosania, a student at the Dragon Institute martial arts school in Bunnell, has earned his Two-Year Discipline Coin, recognizing that he has practiced Wing Chun Kung Fu every day for two years straight.
“That’s a pretty big deal for anyone, but especially for a kid,” said Dragon Institute Sifu Adam Williss. “At The Dragon Institute, one of the biggest things we try to teach is that martial arts isn’t just about learning punches, kicks or techniques. We use Wing Chun to teach discipline, perseverance, integrity and personal responsibility.”
One way to reinforce that, Williss said, is through the Discipline Coin program.
“The emphasis isn’t on who is the most talented or who learns the fastest. It’s about developing the habit of showing up and doing the work,” Williss said. “Emmett has really taken that to another level. Practicing every single day for two straight years is exactly the kind of discipline we hope kids take with them beyond the kung fu school and into the rest of their lives.”
A big part of the kids program, Williss said, is Dragon PIE: Perseverance, Integrity and Education.
