The Thornburgs — Keith, Jackie and their 2-year-old daughter Kinsley — were selected as Ormond Memorial Art Museum’s featured family from the museum's Sept. 4 Free Family Art Night.
The Thornburg family moved to Ormond Beach from Washington, D.C, five years ago, according to a statement from the museum. This year, they became members of the museum. The Sept. 4 event was their first time participating in the Free Family Art Night initiative.
"Kinsley loves watercolor painting, play-doh, colored pencils and markers," the statement reads. "Kinsley has her own garden at home and this year she grew sunflowers with her friend Grace. When the Thornburgs saw that the family art night project was going to be a sunflower, they were excited to attend and create their own version of a Vincent Van Gogh inspired 3-D sunflower! One of the reasons that inspired Keith and Jackie to become museum members was that they saw how many children's programs were being offered by the Ormond Memorial Art Museum & Gardens for Kinsley to enjoy."
OMAM’s Family Art Night takes place from 5:30-7 p.m. on most first Fridays of the month. All art supplies are provided. All ages are welcome. The next event will be held on Oct. 2.
