The Ormond Beach Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 100 Merimont Lane. No one was injured, and all parties involved are accounted for.
The shooting is connected to a separate DUI investigation that occurred earlier that morning. At approximately 6 a.m., officers responded to a DUI crash at 1502 Fountain View St. The driver, Autumn Sollitto, 24, was arrested.
According to the initial investigation, Sollitto’s boyfriend was in the neighborhood looking for her. As he walked along Plantation Oaks Boulevard toward Merimont Lane, a gate attendant instructed him to leave the area.
The two exchanged words, and the man attempted to explain why he was in the neighborhood. The gate attendant pulled out a handgun and fired warning shots.
The man ran down the street as the gate attendant continued firing several rounds into the ground near him. No one was injured.
The gate attendant, identified as Gary Nagel, 59, was arrested for discharging a firearm in public or on residential property (first-degree misdemeanor), and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill (third-degree felony).
