Finders keepers? Not quite
9:01 p.m. — Herschel King Boat Ramp, Palm Coast
Grand theft. A 70-year-old Palm Coast man was arrested after deputies said he took a jet ski trailer from the Herschel King Boat Ramp because he believed it had been abandoned, then dismantled it for parts.
According to a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the trailer's owner had left it at the boat ramp after its axle broke. The owner contacted the parks department and received permission to leave it there temporarily. When he returned Aug. 29 to repair and remove the trailer, it was gone.
Security camera footage showed a Jeep Gladiator arrive at about 9:01 p.m. Aug. 26 while pulling an empty trailer. The driver loaded the approximately $1,000 jet ski trailer onto it and drove away, the report states.
Investigators identified the vehicle and later contacted the man at his Palm Coast home. He admitted removing the trailer but said he believed it had been abandoned because he had seen a license plate on it one day and noticed the plate was gone the next. He admitted he never contacted anyone to determine whether the trailer was actually abandoned.
Deputies found the trailer stripped of its wheels, axle, coupling and tongue. The man said he intended to use the parts for a project. When a deputy asked whether he really believed taking the trailer was "kosher," the man replied, "well its borderline I admit," according to the report.
He was arrested on charges of grand theft between $750 and $5,000 and criminal mischief over $1,000.

"You could take me to jail"
4:45 p.m. — Sederholm Path, Palm Coast
Battery on a law enforcement officer. A 27-year-old Palm Coast man was arrested after deputies said he called 911 about an argument with his grandmother, then tried to shove the responding deputy.
According to a Flagler County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, the man called 911 and said he had been involved in a verbal altercation with his grandmother.
When the deputy arrived and asked what had happened, the man said he and his grandmother had been arguing but did not provide further details. When the deputy asked how he could help, the man paused, looked toward the house and said, "you could take me to jail."
After the deputy asked why, the man allegedly stepped toward him and attempted to shove him with both hands. The deputy blocked most of the shove but said the man's hand scratched his wrist and broke the skin.
The deputy drew his Taser and ordered the man to the ground. As he complied, the man asked, "is that good?" He was then handcuffed without further incident.
The man's grandmother later denied that an argument had occurred and said she had been in her room with the door closed.
The man was arrested on a charge of battery on a law enforcement officer and taken to the Flagler County Inmate Facility.
