The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has arrested another sex offender wanted in connection with Operation Offenders: Endgame, bringing the total number of arrests tied to the operation to 44 and leaving one offender still outstanding.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, Christopher Raymond, 40, of Bunnell, was wanted for failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements. Raymond was one of four sex offenders living at a residence at 4427 Acorn Ave. in Bunnell who investigators said failed to properly report a change in vehicle ownership. Arrest warrants were obtained for Raymond, Mark Balzarotti, Calib Callard and Elijah Jackson. Balzarotti, Callard and Jackson were arrested when an enforcement team went to the residence on Aug. 25, but Raymond was not there.
On Sept. 1, the FCSO Fugitive Apprehension Unit located Raymond in a vehicle parked outside a residence on Kings Colony Court in Palm Coast. Deputies, assisted by the Problem Area Crime Enforcement Unit, took him into custody without incident.
During a search, deputies said they found two small plastic bags containing methamphetamine concealed inside a Mentos container in Raymond’s shorts pocket.
Investigators said the vehicle Raymond had been driving belonged to a client for whom he had performed handyman work and who had recently died. Deputies found a handgun and two magazines containing ammunition inside the vehicle. Raymond denied owning the vehicle, but deputies found a title indicating it had been “gifted” to him by the deceased owner. The title had not been transferred, however, and investigators have questions about its authenticity. Detectives are continuing to investigate whether the vehicle was stolen.
Raymond was arrested on the outstanding warrant, possession of methamphetamine and three counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a convicted felon. He was taken to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he was being held on $62,500 bond.
“This offender’s run from the law only lasted a week,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “Now this pervert and career offender is in the Green Roof Inn not only on his warrant, but for felony drug and weapons charges as well.”
According to FCSO, Raymond has 15 previous arrests on charges that include lewd or lascivious conduct, possession of child pornography, failure to register as a sex offender, burglary, grand theft, dealing or trafficking in stolen property and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Those arrests have resulted in 14 felony convictions, and Raymond has served multiple state prison sentences.
