Acoustic Ormond Beach duo Gilo & Royal Blue released their second album, "Music for Cat People," on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
The 16-track collection brings listeners reimagined songs performed intimately with "warmth, spontaneity, and unmistakable humanity," a press release states. It is available on all major streaming platforms, CD and vinyl.
"Music for Cat People continues the duo’s distinctive musical journey while expanding their sound with stronger country and samba influences," the press release states. "Blending sophisticated vocals with intricate acoustic guitar work, Gilo & Royal Blue transform familiar selections into intimate, emotionally resonant performances that feel both timeless and unexpectedly fresh."
Every track on the album was recorded live in a single take, featuring zero post-production editing or pitch correction. The album showcases Gilo & Royal Blue’s evolving musical identity through a diverse collection of songs interpreted in their signature style. Tracks include “Black Velvet,” "Padam Padam” and “Feed the Birds.”
Formed in Ormond Beach, Gilo & Royal Blue draw inspiration from acoustic folk traditions alongside country fingerpicking and Brazilian samba guitar.
Three selections from Music for Cat People received advanced live exposure through performances on the Sanford radio program, "Live n Kickin," reaching an audience of approximately 1.5 million listeners.
