Margaret “Pidge” Ann Jones Russell, 83, of Hammock, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026. She was born on July 11, 1942, in Daytona Beach, Florida, to Roland L. and Dorthy Jones.

During her high school years, Pidge was an active member of the Civitan Club, served as president of the Future Nurses Club, and was a member of Rainbow Girls, where she rose to the position of Worthy Adviser, the organization’s highest elected office.

After graduating from Mainland High School in June 1960, Margaret attended Massey Business College in Jacksonville. On December 19, 1960, she married John Arden Russell Jr., beginning a marriage filled with love, family, and many wonderful memories. John and Pidge especially enjoyed spending their summers in the Bahamas.

On July 8, 1980—her daughter Robin’s 16th birthday—Pidge and John opened Hammock Hardware. For more than 46 years, the store became a beloved fixture in the community and a reflection of the dedication and warmth they brought to everything they did.

Pidge was also a proud and active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She devoted many years to honoring her heritage and preserving American history, taking great pride in her lineage and in the DAR’s mission of promoting patriotism and education.

Pidge treasured her friendships and especially enjoyed her weekly card games with those closest to her. The stakes were low, but the laughter was always high. She was the spark and soul of every gathering, bringing warmth, humor, and a generous spirit wherever she went.

Above all, Pidge was the true matriarch of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, unwavering devotion, and deep, unconditional love. Her generous spirit touched everyone around her—from her fellow DAR members and the Hammock community to the family she nurtured and the many friends who gathered around her card table.

She is survived by her sister, Dottie Jensen (Ed); her daughter, Robin Jennings (Jerry); her son, John Russell (Tricia); her grandchildren, John and Alex (Chantal); and her beloved great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Tinsley.

A memorial service celebrating Pidge’s life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Hammock First Baptist Church, 5328 N. Oceanshore Blvd., Palm Coast, FL 32137.

Pidge will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
