Daytona Beach's Public Works and Utilities staff recently met to discuss the upcoming North Beach Street redevelopment project, extending from Michigan Avenue to south of Mason Avenue, according to a press release shared by the mayor on Facebook.
"The meeting provided an opportunity to review the proposed scope of work and coordinate infrastructure improvements associated with the project," the press release states. "The North Beach Street redevelopment has been identified as the city's most pressing road infrastructure issue and received strong support from the City Commission during this year's budget workshop."
The redevelopment project includes new sidewalks, pavement, curbs and gutters, modifications to existing on street parking and evaluation of current drainage conditions and potential drainage improvements. It will also increase 2,800 linear feet of existing water main from 6 inches to 8 inches.
"I am excited to see this project move forward," Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry said in the press release. "North Beach Street has long been a top priority for me and my fellow commissioners, and I am grateful for the Commission's strong support during this year's budget workshop. This investment will make a real difference for our residents and businesses."
