Dirt bike rider waves deputy to follow, then flees into woods

Fleeing and eluding. A 35-year-old Ormond Beach man was arrested after deputies said he fled from a traffic stop on an unregistered dirt bike, abandoned the bike in the woods and tried to get away.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy saw a red and white dirt bike leave the Eagle Rock Ranch community and travel south along the shoulder of U.S. 1. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the rider looked back and waved his arm as if signaling the deputy to follow him.
The rider continued down a gravel road and onto Circle S Road, slipping through an electronic gate that had opened for another vehicle. The deputy followed with his emergency lights and siren activated but eventually lost sight of the dirt bike.
Deputies followed the bike's tracks and found it abandoned in a wooded area. Fire Flight and a K-9 team were called in to help search for the rider.
Fire Flight later spotted a man matching the rider's description attempting to leave a Circle S Road home in a vehicle. Deputies stopped the vehicle and found the 35-year-old inside.
He was arrested on a charge of fleeing and eluding law enforcement.

Woman accused of shoplifting 21 times
1:02 p.m. — State Road 100, Palm Coast
Petit theft. A Palm Coast woman was arrested on 21 counts of petit theft after deputies said she was linked to a series of shoplifting incidents at a retail store in the Town Center area dating back to May 2025.
According to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office, loss prevention saw the woman conceal several items on Aug. 24 and then leave the self-checkout area without paying for them. The merchandise, valued at $72.02, was recovered.
Loss prevention also asked deputies to pursue charges from previous incidents. The woman was accused of concealing merchandise, failing to scan items at self-checkout and, in some cases, replacing barcodes on larger packages with barcodes from cheaper products.
The Sheriff’s Office said the 21 incidents involved a total of $554.72 in merchandise. The woman was arrested and taken to the Flagler County jail.
