The Central Florida Indian Community delivered a donation of school supplies and snacks for Champion Elementary and Osteen Elementary on Monday, Aug. 24.
The nonprofit's annual school supply donation is made in partnership with VCS' PETALS Program, which serves 2,500-3,000 homeless students in the school district every year.
"We’re so grateful for CFIC’s partnership and the kindness they have shown to several of our schools over the past three years," VCS wrote on its Facebook post announcing the donation.
Present at the supply donation, which took place at Osteen Elementary, were School Board members Ruben Colon and Jamie Haynes, along with district staff and members of the CFIC.
Donations to the PETALS Program helps students receive school supplies, clothing and to participate in school activities including prom and grad bash. Families are also eligible to receive grocery or gas gift cards.
