Dear Editor:
I received my Notice of Proposed Property Tax Increase statement in the mail last week. I included the word “increase” because that is what is being proposed. Even with the Homestead Exemption increase, both the proposed and NO budget change amounts will be higher than last year for my property.
I won’t offer any solutions here for reducing spending like I have in previous letters to the editor, social media posts, emails to elected officials, one-on-one conversations, through Budget Advisory Board of the City of Ormond Beach as a former sitting board member and during public comment at city commission meetings over the years. Those who are in positions to make those changes have heard solutions from me already.
What I will say here is after years of voting for self-described “fiscal conservatives” at all levels of government, and having all levels of government controlled by these “fiscal conservatives,” currently, I am disappointed to see increases in government spending. The national debt just crossed $40 trillion and government budgets at all levels are at or near record highs.
