Town Center's first single-family residential development won the Palm Coast City Council's approval with a unanimous council vote in favor of the development's final plat on Oct. 19.

The development, called the Gables at Town Center, will be built by Paytas Homes and consist of 208 houses on approximately 125 acres just south of Royal Palms Parkway, west of Lake Avenue.

"It’s been a really long time since we’ve had a final plat come before city council," city Deputy Chief Development Officer Ray Tyner noted in a presentation about the development at the Oct. 19 council meeting. "… All single-family residential homes, new subdivisions, require going through a platting process."

Developers laid the infrastructure for residential development in Town Center around 2004, Tyner said.

City Councilman Eddie Branquinho said he was concerned that the development would worsen traffic delays around the nearby Imagine School at Town Center, and urged the developer to add additional entrances for the community.

Tyner said it will have three: one entrance on Lake Avenue, plus two more on roads that have not yet been built.

Construction is already underway. The homes will be on 50-foot-wide lots. The community will not be gated.
