Master Class teaches audition perfection

With theater season beginning, young actors are looking for the chance to bring their auditions to a new level and that is exactly what the focus of Ann Paris’ Master Class that was held Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Flagler Playhouse. The class was segmented into two parts for ages nine through eighth grade and ninth grade through adults.

“I need help auditioning,” said Catherine Mundo, 13, who has previously appeared in the production of “Annie” at the playhouse. “I learned how to come prepared and what is good to do and not to do.”

Mundo said that the tips of choosing a song that’s appropriate for her voice and the production, dressing nicely and having fun will help her as she prepares to audition for the “Nutcracker the Musical” and a singing part in her musical theater class at Buddy Taylor Middle School.
 

Nutcracker auditions
When: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 6
Where: Flagler Playhouse, 301 E. Moody Blvd., Bunnell
Info: Directed by Ann Paris, “Nutcracker the Musical” is based on the ordinal E.T.A. Hoffman tale and adapted by Rainville Dorn and Bill Francoeur. This non-ballet musical version of the familiar story adds lyrics to a simplified version of Tchaikovsky’s famous score. The one act version of this classic holiday show, features a large multigenerational cast. Many roles are available for children ages 8 and older, as well as 4-6 adults of various ages. Strong vocals and minimal dance is required. Show dates will be Dec. 12,13,14,18,19,20 and 21.
